CO2 Varroa tester – Effective control of Varroa mite infestation
The CO2 Varroa tester is the ideal tool for beekeepers to easily and precisely check for Varroa mite infestation in their bee colonies. This gentle method allows you to quickly determine if and how many mites are present in your colony – without harming the bees.
Scope of delivery:
✅ 1 plastic cylinder with sieve insert and two plastic lids
✅ 1 CO2 dispenser for easy use
✅ 2 x 16 g standard CO2 cartridges (sufficient for approx. 12 tests)
✅ Dimensions: Ø approx. 10 cm, height 15 cm
Instructions:
- ✅ Removing bees: Remove approximately 200 bees from the brood frame (be careful not to catch the queen).
- ✅ Place bees in the tester: Put the bees into the plastic cylinder.
- ✅ Stun bees: Add CO2 gas to the tester to stun the bees and mites.
- ✅ Counting mites: After 10-20 seconds, gently shake the tester for about 10 seconds. The Varroa mites will fall through the grid and can be counted.
- ✅ Resetting bees: The stunned bees wake up after a short time and can be returned to the colony without harm.
Advantages:
✅ Gentle on the bees: The bees suffer no harm and can easily be returned to the hive.
✅ Easy to use: The CO2 Varroa tester is easy to use and allows for a quick determination of Varroa mite infestation.
✅ Fast results: In just a few minutes you can accurately determine the Varroa infestation by counting the mites.
✅ For up to 12 tests: The 2 included CO2 cartridges allow you to perform approximately 12 tests.
Tips for use:
✅ CO2 cartridges: Please note that the CO2 cartridges are under high pressure and initially release a relatively large amount of CO2. Therefore, use the first CO2 dose only briefly to avoid unnecessarily stunning the bees.
With this CO2 Varroa tester, you have a simple, effective and gentle way to check the Varroa mite infestation in your bee colonies and take appropriate action.
