The anti-swarm system from Finland has proven to be an extremely effective method for swarm control.

Here's how it works:

1. Intervention in case of swarm risk:
   • If swarming behavior or queen cells are detected, the anti-swarming system is deployed between the brood chamber and the honey chamber .
   • The normal lower entrance is closed , the upper entrance to the system is opened .
2. Bee flight without swarming risk:
   • The bees still have access to the brood chamber and honey chamber, but the queen remains locked in the brood chamber .
   • The queen cannot fly out with the swarm , so the bees return to the hive.
3. Check-up after 3 weeks:
   • Either the old queen is still present , or a new queen has hatched .
   • Now the lower entrance hole is reopened so that the new queen can begin her nuptial flight .
4. Deployment time & distance:
   • The system can be used as soon as the first honey super is placed .
   • With the upper entrance closed, it functions like a normal barrier gate .
   • It can be activated if needed and removed again after a maximum of 3 weeks .
   • It should be removed by autumn at the latest .
